When it’s freezing like it is these days, my favorite thing to say is, “At least we’re not in Canada!” I can’t imagine what it must be like to live or go to work in -40 degree weather for months on end. It’s absolutely insane just thinking about it. On top of that, I’ve been battling bronchitis for weeks, and I am exhausted! I’m no longer cranky or tired; I just want to be done with this illness so I can enjoy whatever is happening this holiday season. Honestly, there isn’t much to celebrate if you ask me, but I’m alive—maybe not well, but alive. I have a roof over my head, food to eat, and people who genuinely care about me. What more could I possibly want?Better quality of life? Better healthcare? Pay equality? A system that works for everyone? Come on! Santa Claus isn’t in the business of performing miracles, you know? And what about the birthday boy, you might ask? While he does perform miracles, his father created us with intelligence and free will, so it’s ultimately on us to figure things out. I know someone will want to argue whether this perspective is valid or not, but this is not the time to question my faith! Save that for April.
You might wonder why I’ve chosen April. To start, January holds a special place in my heart as it’s my birthday month. This year also marks a time of transition with a new government taking office, which means I’ll be preoccupied with figuring out how to navigate and adapt to the changes that lie ahead during this pivotal time. Then there’s February, which is celebrated as Black History Month. As a proud Black individual, this month resonates deeply with me as I reflect on the achievements and struggles of my community. It’s an important time to honor our heritage, engage in meaningful discussions, and participate in events that celebrate our history and culture. As you know, March is women’s month, so again, I will be busy fighting in my comments those men and women who want me to accept flowers and chocolate because, you know, what an honor it is to get attention! Simultaneously blaming victims while finding excuses for them. I don’t set the rules, and to be honest, I’m completely worn out by this ongoing discussion; I wish it had concluded last year! I know that April was traditionally used to promote awareness regarding diversity and inclusion, but unfortunately, with the new regime taking over, it looks like we won’t have that opportunity moving forward. Regarding Earth Day, I have some thoughts. Given the current political climate, there’s a strong possibility that we may exit the Paris Agreement again, as some still deny the reality of climate change. It’s incredibly frustrating to witness this perspective. Since I might have some free time around that time, feel free to reach out again then.
As the year comes to an end, all I want is good health, a healthy bank account, and a flat tummy—please! Why not aim for the best? I’ve heard that being a little delusional can be the key to achieving what you want. The girls on TikTok are even eating grapes under the table at midnight; it seems like anything goes for good results at this point. Anyway, I’ll be at church praying not to be on God’s list of strongest soldiers for 2025 because I really can’t handle that! I’ve already suffered enough! In fact, growing up in Port-au-Prince was more than enough suffering for a lifetime. So, I’m ready to embrace a year of prosperity and focus on making money,m! What is your plan for 2025 friends?
Since many people are interested in my dating plan for next year, how about covering the expenses as well?
