Stay Still

Chile!!!! Let’s take a deep breath and release some toxic energy…. inhale counting six and exhale counting eight….

I have never been so drained in my entire existence! 2021 came out strong! The news is not only scary, but they are also brutal. Since the beginning of the year, there are more than hundreds of mass shootings in the US only! The coronavirus is ravaging India, and let’s not even get started on what is happening in the Middle East! With all of that, still, we’re dealing with racism, sexism, inequalities, stereotypes… keep adding to the list. Some days, I wonder if we’ll ever catch a break.

However, nonetheless, there are always reasons to be grateful amid all the chaos. Let’s focus on the positive and count the blessings. Knowing there are vaccines to help reduce the course of the disease is a breeze. Seeing a baby walking or someone on social media sharing they beat cancer makes you smile. Sharing a meal with your close ones or being there for a friend gives you purpose. Educating yourself on a subject and maximize your growth as a decent human is to celebrate. So, there are moments of relief.

Self-care is more important than everything, no matter where you are in life, you sometimes need to stop and recenter. It means different things for everyone, but it is a necessity for all! Your mind, body, and soul can only do so much! So hopefully, you learn to recognize the signs when it is time to take care of yourself.

Also, celebrate your small victories, no matter what they are! Be grateful for yourself, and don’t self criticize more than needed. Life is hard on itself, and we’re all trying the best we can. You might not be where you want to be yet, but give yourself some slack and appreciate everything you’ve accomplished so far. Trust the process and keep it moving.

PS: Why do I celebrate finishing the semester tearing up the apartment!!!! Yessss!!!! One semester down for your good sis!
